Meet British-Nigerian interior architect and designer, Mimi Shodeinde, founder of Miminat Designs. Born and raised in London, her influences are drawn from her African heritage and love for travel, which serves as inspiration for her work.
Last fall, she introduced “Okuta”, a functional art collection including serving boards, bowls, tea sets, ceramics and more inspired by ancient Yoruba stone murals and the organic and natural forms of late 14th century Yoruba Design. Items from this series are excellent conversation pieces for entertaining and ideal as high-end hostess or housewarming gifts.
Through a combination of quality materials and textures, her firm, Miminat, plays on form and function to create innovative yet practical design ranging from furniture, lighting, interiors, and paintings.
